Chase Gray is a Two-Spirit, queer Musqueam and Tsimshian Artist from the Killer Whale Clan, currently residing in Vancouver, B.C. Chase started his art journey by being a part of the Tsimshian dance group Git Hayetsk Dancers. The group being led by his uncle renowned carver uncle, Mike Dangeli, Chase was instantly inspired by the Northwest Coast Formline art.
Chase started focusing more and more on his artwork during the pandemic, using it as an escape for better days and mental health. Chase uses the digital route when sketching, using an IPad.
The Killer Whale symbol is dominant across Chase’s work, while lately, he has been focusing more and more on adding and learning the Salish style, with Pride and queer representation being the key message across.
