Raven Head Pendant

Shawn was born in Vancouver, BC and raised in Kitkatla. Kitkatla is one of the oldest communities on the Northwest Coast. Shawn is originally Tsimshian from the Gitxaala Nation. The classical Northwest Coast Formline and sculptures are where Shawn’s inspiration comes from. With his mother being Gitxaala and also an artist, Shawn was motivated to practice Northwest Coast art. He also draws inspiration from Roy Henry Vickers.

Known as the Trickster, the Raven is one of the most familiar characters in Indigenous stories and culture. As the Raven has the power to transform itself or other beings, he is kindred with transformation and transition. The Raven’s mischief has led to him being a cultural hero who is respected for placing the moon and the sun in the sky, among other great accomplishments.

"Raven Head Pendant" and all First Nations Gallery jewelry is made on reservation land, located in what is known as North Vancouver in British Columbia, Canada. This pendant can be strung on any chain, sold separately.
