    Shawn was born in Vancouver, BC and raised in Kitkatla. Kitkatla is one of the oldest communities on the Northwest Coast. Shawn is originally Tsimshian from the Gitxaala Nation. The classical Northwest Coast Formline and sculptures are where Shawn’s inspiration comes from. With his mother being Gitxaala and also an artist, Shawn was motivated to practice Northwest Coast art. He also draws inspiration from Roy Henry Vickers.

    The Wolf is respected for its strength, agility, intelligence and capacity for devotion. Northwest Coast people celebrate the Wolf as an excellent communicator. Wolf and Killer Whale are known as intimate relations, exhibiting similar colourings, pack behaviours and hunting abilities.
